In a few days, the orbiting.observer Lemmy instance will be shut down in favor of the PieFed instance at geostationary.orbiting.observer, as the platform is more to our taste. Thanks for playing along.

Hello Fediverse Enjoyers, The orbiting.observer cluster had some issues which necessitated a move. That move has been completed, let's hope it's more stable now!

With the successful and impromptu test of our new backup system, I went ahead and updated to 0.19.5. I will most likely upgrade the database as well this weekend.

Whoa, we were down for a second! After an ~~aggressive hunt for and subsequent airlocking of a gremlin from the station~~ escalating series of mishaps, orbiting.observer is back online.

A massive new update is finally here. I've updated Lemmy and Lemmy UI to 0.19.0.

The backup system did a whoopsie and took down the lemmy VM last night. We should be good to go!

I’ve just added Voyager to launchpad.orbiting.observer. It supports PWA on android and apple alike!

The communities and content here originated from https://fernchat.esotericmonkey.com/, which is long and difficult to type. https://orbiting.observer/ is a much more fun name, and to that end I've gotten Lemmy 0.18.3 installed as the inaugural version.
