As per title, the official flatpak applications get stuck on a loading screen when launched from the bigscreen session, but are completely usable within the main session. I have tried disabling fullscreen launch for the HTPC app just in case but that did not seem to fix anything.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I also wouldn't mind if someone knows a URL that would link to the plex 10-foot ui (so not app.plex.tv/desktop, instead a URL that gives the more controller friendly UI).

If it matters, I am on Fedora Kinoite (KDE Atomic Desktop) with Plasma Bigscreen and Tailscale-cli as the only layered packages.

First up with Flatpak 1.16.4 is a fix for CVE-2026-34078, which is a security issue allowing a complete sandbox escape leading to host file access and code execution in the host context. Ouch. The issue is due to Flatpak portal accepting paths in the sandbox-expose options that can be app-controlled symlinks pointing at arbitrary paths. Due to this apps can access all host files and can be used as a primitive for gaining code execution in the host context. Disabling Flatpak Portal is another way to workaround this issue but can cause app problems.

CVE-2026-34079 is also fixed and is for preventing arbitrary file deletion on the host file-system. CVE-2026-34079 stems from caching for ld.so removing outdated cache files without checking that the app controlled path to the outdated cache is in the cache directory.

The development team behind Artix Linux has released today the Artix Linux 2026.04 ISO refresh for this Arch Linux-based, systemd-free distribution, which features multiple editions and init systems.

The Artix Linux 2026.04 release promotes XLibre as the default display server instead of Xorg Server, which can now be installed manually if you don’t want to use XLibre. For the KDE Plasma edition, users can choose between using Wayland or XLibre.

This release also ships with PipeWire as the default audio system instead of PulseAudio, support for user services when using either the OpenRC or Dinit init systems, Linux 6.19 as the default kernel, and all the latest versions of included applications and core components.

All settings have been updated as well to the newest releases of their respective desktop environments and applications. Artix Linux 2026.04 ships with KDE Plasma 6.6, Xfce 4.20, Cinnamon 6.6, LXQt 2.3, MATE 1.28, and LXDE 0.11.1 desktop environments with OpenRC, Dinit, s6, and Runit init systems.
“As usual, we provide a wide range of installation desktops and init systems, suited to all levels of Linux experience: from base profiles installable from the command-line to the fully-equipped community editions which offer a complete desktop setup,” said the devs in the release notes.

You can download Artix Linux 2026.04 right now from the official website as live ISO images with the aforementioned desktop environments and init systems for 64-bit machines. Of course, these new ISO images are here only for new deployments or those who want to reinstall their Artix Linux systems.

Since Artix Linux follows a rolling release model, existing users need only to update their installations by running the sudo pacman -Syu command in a terminal emulator or by using a graphical package manager on your favorite desktop environment, such as Plasma Discover or one of the many pacman GUIs.

After yet another deeply technical and entirely calm discussion about HRT (High-Resolution Timers) that somehow devolved into 200+ replies, personal insults, and at least one GIF of a raccoon, I have decided it’s time to take drastic measures.

Effective next merge window, we will be removing IPv4 support from the kernel. This will both (a) resolve the maintainers’ scheduling disputes, and (b) force the world into the IPV6 utopia we were promised back in 1998.

If you need IPv4 after this point, you can either:

run an ancient kernel from before the change (good luck with the bugs), or rewrite your applications to use IPv6 and learn to love colons in your addresses. Yes, I realize this will break roughly *everything *. No, I don’t care. I have already switched all my machines to IPv6-only, except for the toaster, which unfortunately still insists on using a 192. 168. x. x address. The toaster will be replaced.

If you disagree with this decision, I suggest you take it up with the HRT maintainers. But please keep it civil this time. (Or at least keep the raccoon GIFs under 1MB.)

Hello everyone,

I recently set up a drop-in systemd unit file that adds an "on failure" command to all user-level services on a home server. Specifically the on failure command sends a notification to ntfy.sh detailing the service that has failed. E.g. if my miniflux container fails, it will send a notification such as Le service miniflux.service a échoué. Vérifier : journalctl --user -u miniflux.service

However, particularly on server startup, I have been getting some weird failure notifications for services I cannot find.

Any ideas on what I can do to troubleshoot this? An example is provided bellow.

#dnf5 offline reboot : flawless Asahi uograde from Fedora 42 to 43

In other non-news, I just "dnf5" updated my #AsahiLinux install from #Fedora 42 to 43. The only caveat I can provide is that this #mac (m2 pro mbp) still runs un-updated from Sonoma 14-something, since I (quite) never use the Dark Side of this machine & never bothered to touch it. Having had to fiddle with a brand new such laptop recently, I can confirm that the more modern your #apple device is, the greater the pain in your lower parts it is. #Asahi #Gnome #foss #linux

I've been looking for good power optimization software so I don't drain my battery while playing lightweight games. So one of the most interesting options I found was power-options , but it doesn't seem to be very updated and apparently there aren't other contributors other than two people.

Has anyone tried it? is it safe and works as intended?

I am also worried about uninstalling it. does it revert all the policies it imposes or I will need to reinstall my system to go back to normal?

Servers can run on a PC or Raspberry Pi which needs half a Watt of power. No FAANG companies needed. No expert knowledge needed - not more difficult than running a file sharing client.
