These gangs terrorize my town at all hours. They make car alarms go off with their sounds, speed down the main road near sidewalks, and rev right next to apartments with families.

Why don't police handle them? Don't people complain? If ever a person deserved to be legally walloped by a police baton, this is the occasion.

Is it possible to cross the bridge from Awaji island to Shikoku on foot? On the photos of the bridge, it looks like there is a walkway under the highway. Is it open to everyone or is it just for technical persons?

If I take a bus from Osaka, what station is the last one before the bridge?

The law is from March, and the ban starts June 1st. Knew the government would catch up eventually, because why would they want their citizens to have access to anything except alcohol and cigarettes?

Police in northern Japan have returned a rifle to a veteran hunter who lost his gun permit after shooting a brown bear at a city's request. His right to possess a firearm was recently restored by the Supreme Court. ……

Just sad it took 7 years and many bear attacks for this result.

Many might know that, in Japan, if you report found items to police and the owner doesn't show up for 3 months, the ownership of the item passes to the founder. Even if the owner shows up, the founder has the right to demand 謝礼 (gift) of 5 ~ 20% of the item's value according to the law.

What I found interesting in this case is that multiple parties showed up and claimed they "might" be the owner, but the police still gave it to the founder.

It makes one wonder:

1. Who loses 18,000,000 yen of cash (~114k USD) and was not sure about it?
2. Are any of the claimed owner legit and he/she just wasn't able to prove it to the police?
3. Do people lose cash so often that it happens to multiple parties at the same time?
4. Or are the other parties making false claims? In that case they are pretty bold since they have to make them to the police.
