The UAE has not ruled out joining the United States in its war against Iran, a senior Emirati military official told in an interview.

Maj. Gen. Abdul Nasser Al Humaidi said, for now, the country remains firmly focused on defense. But when asked if his country’s military involvement in the war is off the table, Al Humaidi replied, “To be part of that conflict — not necessarily.”

He stressed, however, that the UAE is focused on defending its territory following weeks of a sustained Iranian attack.

“The UAE preserves its right to self-defense upon any aggression that aims at the UAE, and that’s the primary role of the military and armed forces,”

The seasonally adjusted S&P Global UAE Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI), fell to 52.9 in March from 55.0 in February. While remaining above the 50.0 threshold that signals expansion, the reading was the joint lowest since June 2021, matching July 2025.

"The UAE non-oil private sector was knocked back by the impacts of the war in the Middle East in March. That said, for many firms, orders books were resilient and output expanded. Anecdotal comments suggested that sectors such as tourism, retail and logistics were the most affected, whereas segments such as technology and construction signalled a softer, but still notable impact,” said David Owen, Senior Economist at S&P Global Market Intelligence,

The survey members indicated the closure of the Strait of Hormuz led to longer wait times on inputs and contributed to larger increase in backlogs and cost pressures. Overall purchase prices rose at the fastest pace since July 2024. Businesses increasingly passed on higher input costs to customers to protect margins, pushing average selling prices up by the sharpest margin in nearly 11 and a half years.

Abu Dhabi authorities are responding to an incident of falling debris at the Habshan gas facilities, following successful interception by air defence systems. Operations have been suspended while authorities respond to a fire. No injuries have been reported.

The partner of notorious gangland figure Steven Lyons was arrested in Dubai on the same day he was detained by police in Bali, it has emerged.

The UK government should do more to help Britons charged for filming Iranian attacks on the United Arab Emirates, a campaign group has said.

The reason for this rule is that the previous night had many unverified photos and videos. Sadly, it's becoming harder to know which videos are real and which are not.

I will trial this rule for the next 2 weeks.

If I saw that it's unnecessary, I would remove the rule.

Otherwise, this rule stays.
