Band - Song Title [Location, Year] [FFO: Band 1, Band 2, Band 3]

Example: Bolt Thrower - World Eater [England, 1989] [FFO: Benediction, Hail of Bullets, Memoriam]

FFO means “For Fans Of” and is not always needed, but can be very helpful in promoting lesser known bands.

Easily one of my top five death metal releases, be it EP or full length album. Killer guitar tone, sick as hell growl before it became as deep as it is today, drums still performing like they're from a more extreme thrash outfit. Always a good reason to return to this, especially the stomper Infecting the Crypts - which is linked, but I still recommend the whole thing (imperfect production and all.)

Arguably the most controversial album of their career, having taken a shit load of inspiration from Carcass. They were already influenced by their heroes in their demo days before, but this is the turning point which transformed their sound from goregrind into death metal.

I love this album personally, and my fav track on it is Death Walks behind you, however I will link from the beginning as the first real track after the intro rips as well!

Some dense as fuck technical melodic death metal - frenetic performances from all the members involved. Gonna take a few spins to chew this one down, but it's well worth it if you're a fan of this style of extreme music.

Yes you see the FFO section up there, this is straight up Scandinavian Melodeath from Germany. I nearly thought At the Gates shadow-dropped another album when this appeared in my recommended daily random lol. Linked is the title track of the album, but the whole thing is pretty decent by my standards.

I wrote a death metal-ish song about the nihilistic existence of a corporate wage slave. Everything written, performed and/or programmed by myself. This is the first time I've ever recorded vocals.

Brutal death metal released in August of last year. Prime example of the genre, not straying from the style at all. Kicks ass all the same. Linked is the opener, but not much deviation between songs on this release, so take your pick!

Decent display of talent from mainly one dude - Josh Dummer. Throughout the album he has guest appearances from various projects ranging from different voices or guitars. Linked is simply an instrumental though. A nice shot in the arm of some adrenaline. Also Dummer released an all-instrumental album with a color shifted album art, similar to what Inferi did some years back, if that's your thing.

Technical melodic death metal band with some death/thrash roots. It's a bit more on the techdeath side, than melodeath. Linked is the opening track, and there's a bit where the vocalist really lets loose for a sec - will get you to raise an eyebrow at least.

Fifth LP from this fast-paced tech death group, frenetic and energetic. Has some great hooks, especially in the first track (linked) and the second. Even some backing vocals from a softer female voice during some bits here and there.

Old school tech death from Florida, some of the old guard right here. Latest release of theirs as of this post, let loose in 2018. Linking the first track - with infectious riffing, but you know what to expect at this point.

I see we haven't posted this goat of an album yet, so I take it upon myself to expose you to this blistering release.

From Topeka, Kansas, USA we have this brutal techdeath band who employ a plethora of gravity blasts and quite a few tremolo sweeps among their solos. Nearly every track will sound similar to the last upon first listen but the brilliance of the album shines through in repeated listens. Be sure to give some time between each spin, though. Unless you kinda enjoy put yourself through that kind of abuse lol.

While I do recommend spinning the whole thing, I will still link a single track to save time - the title track which encapsulates the album perfectly concisely in a nine and a half minute package.

Brutal death metal from California, USA. Linked is the first track of their eighth album that came out in 2013. Very closely reminding me of many of Suffocation's stuff, but a bit more on the technical side. This album is the sequel to the one prior, lyrically, conceptually. Nice to finally hear some of this band after seeing mentions of it elsewhere among my years in the subgenre.

Coming from Massachusetts, USA, we have this band that plays a rough mix of hardcore and old school death metal, with a bit of crust punk thrown in there. Not to be everyone's cup of tea here, but for those that it clicks with, this is their shit.

I'm linking the fourth track in their debut 2019 album, it was a single that was presented to me courtesy of Tidal. Plenty of breakdowns and pinch harmonics among the rest of the osdm worship. Hope you guys don't hate on the hardcore elements too much, and that this finds those that enjoy it!

Progressive death metal from Pennsylvania! Released this huge markup in quality over their previous outputs in 2020, with huge improvements in the growls and even the cleanly sung passages. Also has a bit of the djent sound to em overall, which doesn't detract from the music. Got one hell of an awesome melodic closing to this particular track I'm linking.
