Hello fellow CD collectors!

I was hoping to make a megathread for the community containing a bunch of useful CD information and links. If you have any links of info regarding CDs, where to buy them, how to listen to, burn, rip and look after them, or even just general tips that could be thrown in then please let me know :D

Top to bottom left to right these are Final Transmission by Cave In, Sometimes I'm Ancient by The Willows, Burst by The Pass, and Wraith by Teeth of the Sea.

I just dropped by the record store and picked up some new stuff I've never heard before. From what I've sampled, these are all super interesting, especially the bottom left (Wraith by Teeth of the Sea) which is packed in a way I've never seen before. It's like... post-rock + IDM + freeform jazz? What I've heard so far is wild.

All of them have super interesting and unique packaging, honestly. Final Transmission was my favorite. The interior artwork is super sick.

In order of when I bought them.

Andrew W.K. - Tear It Up

Slipknot - Disasterpieces

System of a Down - Toxicity (Limited edition) comes with both the album CD and bonus DVD

Avenged Sevenfold - All Excess

I started hunting down DVD copies of music videos I originally watched on YouTube over 10 years ago. But YouTube's re-compression over the years hasn't been kind to most of them if they were even decent quality uploads in the first place. This video in particular I watched a lot as a teen and has been mangled over time...

The DVDs also contain a lot live performances from the time, which are cool in their own right but I mainly do it for the music videos.

Dirty Vegas are two different worlds coming together, a DJ and a live percussion. The outcome is the album Dirty Vegas, where house, progressive and deep sounds come in to make a hit!

You can listen this Album on:
Qobuz
Bandcamp
Youtube
Deezer

You want more info about the album, cd or artist? check the Discogs page.

Sludge metal trio from Cyprus. Were only active for a short time around 2006-2007, but long enough to release one full album.

The frontman/bassist would later go on to play drums for Electric Wizard, which is how I found out about the band.

Don't own many CDs at the moment, but had to get this after hearing a lower quality rip of the album on Youtube and loving it.

Distant Dreamer
Although you think I cope
My head is filled with hope
Of some place other than here
Although you think I smile
Inside and all the while
I'm wondering about my destiny

I'm thinking about all the things
I'd like to do in my life

I'm a dreamer, a distant dreamer
Dreaming far away from today

Looking at house music in early millennium, Subliminal had some popular tracks. This 2 CD mix showcases their catalog.

While record shopping, I came by this jazz CD for 10 Euros, and without thinking too much, I bought it. Sometimes, when there is no media preview online, it's a hit or miss situation if I'm gonna like something. This is one was hit IMO.

The band has made a beautiful CD, turning well known songs into bossa Nova.
Track 15 has the unreleased Bossanova and a bonus track named Rio(Montefiori cocktail remix)>

An absolute trip of an album as the name would imply. I have a good story to go with this, too. My friend was a promoter and happened to be working one of these shows of theirs. He gifted me the album along with one of their t-shirts.

Since I had their collection digitally, I never got the urge to open this copy. I was curious one day and looked it up. Turns out it’s quite the rare bird and I’m not the only one who enjoys their rare flavor of sound.

I’ve been a fan of their sound from the first time a friend recommended I listen to “Deeply Disturbed”, specifically the Infect Remix 15 years ago. I don’t know if there’s some dimensional rift going on, but I’ve met very few people who know their music. And yet, the few people that I’ve met that do know them have been listening for as long as I have.

It’s strange. They’ve been making music for longer than Deadmau5 or Daft Punk, consistently doing new and interesting stuff, and they’ve barely made a dent on the map. They’ve even done several big collabs, but they just don’t seem to catch the fame. Their concert tickets are usually really affordable, too as a result, which is always nice.

i just started getting into cds in the past couple years and even then have been focused way more on my bookshelf so this is all i have now but they all mean something to me which i think is frankly more important (except 4x4=12 that album is mid as fuck i want while 1<2 so bad lol and also i left 3 cds that got pawned off on me out of the image)

in case anyone is wondering the one on the top is my fucking crown jewel thats the only ever cd release of defsharp's "infrequent flyers program" which there were only ever like 50 copies of but every single one was manually burned onto a regular cd-r and had a unique album art drawn on the paper sleeve by the artist personally

This 1996 Jazz Collection from RCA Victor was a very nice introduction to Jazz music.

I filled listening to some disco classics today, so I started picked this hidden beauty. While DFP has a nice selection of songs, Joey wins this round for me.
