Obviously Félix Hernández in 2010 (13-12) and Jacob DeGrom in 2018 (10-9) and 2019 (11-8) came close, but even they had winning records in those seasons.

Skenes won't be the only pitcher to win the Cy Young with a .500 or below record though, as 1979 Bruce Sutter (6-6) and 2003 Eric Gagné (2-3) both won the award, though they won the award as relievers.

Some additional stats that underpin Skenes' insane season:

His 2 best starts by game score (05/18 vs. PHI, 06/03 vs. HOU) were losses
The most earned runs allowed by Skenes in a pitching win for him was 1 (08/29 vs. BOS, 2R, 1ER)
Since the live-ball era, there have been 53 seasons of qualified starters with ERA's under 2, only 11 have double-digit losses, and only 4 (now 5) didn't have 20+ alongside double-digit losses
