The Trump administration is intentionally slow-rolling efforts to restrict abortion pill access until after the midterms. Once they're over, "the gloves will be off," according to one anti-abortion advocate who spoke with The Washington Sun.

US Attorney General Todd Blanche said during his July confirmation hearing that rules allowing abortion pills to be shipped nationwide were "wrong" and that he'd seek to review them. He's also reportedly assured faith leaders he would work to ban abortion "in every single state."

But according to a Friday report from the Sun, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles has intervened to limit the potential political fallout of new sweeping restrictions on a method that accounts for nearly two-thirds of all abortions in the US.

Vote, vote, vote!!

They're going to do it after the midterms regardless. Punish them NOW:

But administration officials have also informed anti-abortion leaders, who have aggressively pressed the administration to move quickly to restrict abortion access, that any action on abortion would take place after the midterm elections, multiple sources told The Sun.

“Once the midterms are over and it’s truly lame-duck time, we’ve heard the gloves will be off,” one conservative in touch with the administration, granted anonymity to discuss private conversations, said. “We have heard we have friends, and there are definitely people who are staunch pro-lifers.”

Post midterms is now "lame-duck time" wow.

edit: oh wait, yeah it is lame duck time for the outgoing reps and senators, doy.

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 17 points 4 days ago

Let's make absolutely certain the right ones are outgoing.

The gloves aren't already off? The masks are off. Is this how they behave with gloves on?

This was always coming.

First mifepristone/misoprostol will be removed from pharmacies.

Then Plan-B mysteriously disappears from shelves - the excuse will be that it shouldn’t be OTC, it requires a prescription. And those will become super ultra mega restricted. Anyone prescribing it will be scrutinized.

Then hormonal birth control pills will be declared too dangerous - they’ll say that stroke and cardiac risks need to be “reassessed.”

That’s their plan.

This time it's abortion, next year it's women's voting rights. Guys, this HAS to end. This cannot keep going like this. At some point, we cannot just keep coasting by waiting for some miracle to happen. WE have to force them out by force it comes to it. This is ridiculous.

[–] Pratai@piefed.ca 33 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Oh after the midterms, America is going to be absolutely locked the fuck down. There will be nothing left to lose and he will definitely make a run for martial law in preparation for his overthrowing of our government.

[–] im_fine_sandy@nord.pub 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Isn't that what they're going to do before the midterms?

[–] Pratai@piefed.ca 2 points 4 days ago

Just wait until after it’s rigged to guarantee their victory….. we haven’t seen shit yet.

You can use pennyroyal, as an herb, for this purpose anyway. Just plant some this spring.

[–] CrimeIsLegalNow@ani.social 8 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

For more middle ages solutions that kill women because the dose required to cause a miscarriage is about the same as the dose that causes organ failure, stay tuned.

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 1 points 3 days ago

Pennyroyal used as an herb is safe. The oil will kill you. The government pulled information from the NIH online saying it was safe and replaced it with one conflating the risks of using the oil with the plant.

A plant oil by the way, is made by distilling plants and is a thousandfold in potency, or whatever.

This should be used in every single Democratic ad.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

But people who don't think Democrats are absolute perfect angelic specimens should totally just sit out elections to "send a message". I'm sure that is the answer.

[–] KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 4 days ago

Hey man, I’ve been assured that democrats would do exactly this same thing because both sides are the same. And no one lies on the internet!

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 15 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (2 children)

I would say they could never get elected if they're honest about their intentions. But for 30% of voters apparently they can outright say half the evil shit and be loved for it.

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

these are also uninformed people who spend little time watching the news or paying attention to anything outside of their circle

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

They spent about 50 years fighting against Roe and are not about to give up now. The 30% or so are the people that were gleeful about trigger laws in various states. They are the types that started setting up bounties for people to sue women that were traveling to other states to exercise their rights. They are the kinds of people that want to track pregnant women taking flights, etc...

[–] Ertain@feddit.online 9 points 4 days ago

Better vote these bastards out.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

What is more vile that forcing another life to be brought into this sick world to a parent that doesn't even want it. Absolutely ludicrous.
