1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of "discuss" rarely comply with this rule.
2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.
3. Avoid repetitive topics.
4. This is not a search engine
Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions or identify objects. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.
There are a number of content specific communities with subject matter experts who can help you.

5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.
6. No hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.
7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with "So" - starting a post with pointless phrases, like "I hope this is allowed" or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

I still remember when all you got was two shallow depressions on the inside of the glovebox lid and those plastic gimmicky cup holders that hung on the window trim...
They never failed to fail at the most inopportune time.
14 cupholders seems like halcyon days, my friend.
I've got a '95 Mazda 323 and as much as I love that car, mine is an absolute bastard for not having any cupholders whatsoever.
It has this little cubby under the radio and its supposed to actually have a tray that slides out but the previous owner installed a kill switch there which I guess interfered with the tray, so she decided the only cupholders in the vehicle was a worthy sacrifice rather than having her auto elec move the switch down 2cm or anywhere else in the vehicle.
Many drinks have been served to the carpet.
Anyway those plastic door trim cupholder things were a godsend when I found them at an Aldi.
They still make them? I haven't seen one in decades. That's like sighting something scientists thought were extinct!
It was one of Aldi's limited run items and I bought them like 5 years ago. I haven't seen them back at Aldi since but that's pretty usual for those limited items
I think, it's because Germans never really understood the need for cupholders, not somehow US customers kept complaining and at some point a product manager said "THEY STILL WANT MORE CUPHOLDERS? WE'LL GIVE THEM GODDAMN CUPHOLDERS".
I remember joking about Chrysler commercials fir their minivans in the 80's touting how many cup holders they had.
Seemed silly at the time... Still does today!
That’s kind of good that they could blend all of those into the design.
I suppose I’m thinking of it not in terms of “look at how many cup holders” but instead “if someone needs a cup holder they always have one available.”
I had a 2004 Passat where the cup holders flipped out of the dash by pressing a button. While deployed and with cups installed, the entire dashboard control panel was basically inaccessible. It was ludicrous.
Automotive trends. In the 80's it was ash trays. We put them EVERYWHERE. The child seats came with ash trays.
