I've been using @zed but this editor/agent split screen is really annoying when opening a new, blank, window. There was no setting, that I could find, to disable this. Opened a feature request to add agent.newWindow: false or agent.start\_open: false

Came back to Zed after a bit and now can’t authenticate with Copilot for edit suggestions? Keeps saying an error occurred, and I should reinstall, but the error persists. @zed Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks to @zed @kiesraad and #rustweek for accommodating the @bevy flock at your hackathon!

11 pull requests to explore what could be the next bevy-powered editor, improving error handling, feedback loop and localization were on the menu 🤩

Question for #devcontainer experts: should the container stop when you exit the editor/IDE? Or when you close the project in the editor/IDE? Or neither, and it just stays running? (If it matters, I'm using @zed.)

OK, I have created my own #devcontainer image and I have started testing it with @zed using a small project. So far, so good.

Once I get the hang of using @zed the next step is to switch all my personal projects to use Devcontainers. You can bank on the fact I'll be pestering @usrbinkat with all my questions during that process. LOL!

I'm really trying to get the hang of using @zed (switching from Sublime Text). I like the speed, but you can tell there are some rough edges here and there.

Switch to @zed please @marcoarment you will love. Perfect balance of AI, fast rendering, and Apple like polish.

#Tech post...

I went down so many rabbit holes today... @zed was failing to code-complete and just seemed to be broken in multiple ways...

After a total removal and reinstall, and some zed.log deep diving, I got it back how I need after 6 hours.

Strong suspicion that some behaviours changed with recent updates though I can't be sure what.

It's still better than the alternatives (Pulsar & VSCodium) but it's damn finicky at times. And code completion performance sucks on an M1 Mac.

The more I'm using @zed the more I'm liking it. I have the AI features disabled, of course, but it was super simple to get my dev environments for Java, Python, C/C++, and even C#. Only thing I'm missing is a way to run my unit tests in the editor as opposed to CLI, but that can wait.

Zed also helped me to resolve a weird issue I was seeing in a Java project that VSCodium said wasn't there.

For my #Rust projects, I’ve finally migrated from #RustRover to @zed.

RR is a great IDE, but it feels much too bloated for me. #Zed, on the other hand, is a pleasure to use. So smooth!

Here’s my current config including a beautiful theme based on monokai-pro https://github.com/0xdea/dotfiles/tree/main/zed/.config/zed
