When browsing Steam, ever wonder if the publisher behind a game has a history of shutting down always-online titles and making them unplayable?

I built a userscript that checks the publisher on every store.steampowered.com page against the Stop Killing Games Dead Game List. If the publisher is known for killing games, you get a small amber banner above the purchase area with the specific reason.

Currently flags 16 publishers: Ubisoft, EA, Microsoft (Activision/Blizzard), Warner Bros, Bandai Namco, Sony, Square Enix, 2K, NCSoft, SEGA, Capcom, Rovio, Gameloft, NetEase, Nexon, Atari

Examples:

  • Ubisoft → Shut down The Crew (2024), lawsuit in France
  • EA → Anthem killed Jan 2026, unplayable
  • Activision → Warzone Mobile killed Apr 2026
  • Sony → Concord killed after 2 weeks

Design:

  • Matches Steam’s native DRM warning styling (amber gradient)
  • Dismissible, does not block purchases
  • Links to per-publisher explainer docs with evidence
  • No telemetry, open source

Install:

  1. Install ViolentMonkey
  2. Open https://codeberg.org/kimmitk/skg-publisher-warning/raw/branch/main/skg-warning.user.js
  3. Click Install

In exciting news, a bunch of my yuri vns have been banned in Russia on Steam b/c the Russian government hates gay people, & Steam sent me this lovely message telling me this is my fault & I should have done my due diligence by pre-emptively complying with homophobic laws 🙏

I could easily see myself picking it up for $100 just like in the states. But because of the currency exchange rate, We're getting hit with a 50 dollar price hike.

Meanwhile the Xbox controller I bought was only $89.00.

Do any of my fellow Canadians also feel this way?

Just bought it and have some questions about legacy characters

If I keep leveling them up, will they eventually die of old age?

Can I reuse legacy characters if the next chapter is hundreds of years in the future?

Warn you if there’s a way you could get a product for cheaper before you purchase it.

ShiraNamiNani discovered this feature while purchasing Unrailed 2: Back on Track. At press time, this game was 30% off, for a total of $13.99. However, the Unrailed Collection Bundle, which includes both Unrailed 2: Back on Track and its predecessor, had a bigger discounted rate of 58%, meaning it only cost $13.58 – 41 cents cheaper than buying just the second game on its own. This is likely what triggered this alert, as it allowed them to not only save money but also get an extra game in the process.

"they will not be recommended to purchase the larger version if the total cost is still higher."
