You obviously haven't been to mexico city or any of the other tourist destinations in mexico. Its really bad, there are far too many "nomads" pricing out the locals.

Could be, but it's more likely that the delete gets put into a message queue and gets processed when the deletion service can handle it. These large deletions are computationally expensive.

Its similar to why the exports take so long to process

Garmin's whole UI/UX is awful, I just use it for the data.

Also it's totally impossible to tell which machine in the gym the watch is paired to

If by prolific you mean freely available to the masses sure, but private companies normally take the lead. At least in applied technologies
