There's a lot of debate over how we "ought" to view these people. Man, feel how you wanna feel. You have a right to be angry with them. Fuck, they are stupid assholes. You can also feel pity and have a desire to find common ground. It's normal to celebrate a redemption arc.

But one thing you can't argue, is that the signs weren't there. That those folks had no way of knowing that Trump was a grifting, lying, narcissistic, rapist idiot criminal. All these dumb fucks on tv acting surprised, not doing themselves any favors right now. Look inward, realize you're an imbecile or a bigoted shitheel for buying into his bullshit, and then start over. Get on tv and say "holy fuck I am a bad person" and that redemption arc gets realistic.

Seeing this... this is what really old people must feel like when they begin any kind of serious cognitive decline. The world starts looking strange, familiar but somehow wrong, and everyone just acts like this is normal. Things used to make sense, but now everything seems stupid and devoid of meaning and context.

Just make healthcare unaffordable, then you won't have to invent robots or make housecalls.

It's not about accepting phsycal labor as life's purpose, although I can easily imagine some profit-driven CEO twisting the philosophy into something soul-crushing.

We wait for employees to quit, get injured, or transfer to a another location so we don't have to fire them and look like a business trying to downsize. We just fail to hire replacements and offload the work to the poor suckers who are stuck by circumstances. 🤡

It ain't AI, that's just an accelerant. Conservatives have been hammering away at education for decades. The devaluation of expertise and intelligence as a primary goal goes back decades.

Trump is the guy who says out loud, finally, what we've known all along. They love the uneducated. They didn't have to ban the books, in the end. They just had to tell us they were worthless and that our opinions were equally as valid.

I have had exactly that. Today is a do-nothing day. Nap, watching videos, playing games, painting nails... nothing substantive whatsoever.

I feel like just being in the same room with him would cause me to projectile vomit

It's remarkable how weak and toothless his insults are. Not a hint of insight in any of his petty, childish comments. Never ceases to amaze me what a desperately pathetic whiner this "tough guy" truly is.

From the description:

one wouldn’t expect an imaginary little creature from the 12th century to still hold relevance in modern society. And yet the word of the year was ‘goblin mode.’ So, what is it about these freaky dudes that have kept them a fixture of popular culture?
