A little harder to enforce ('no, judge, it says SHOULD, grant our civil suit please') and a little easier to grant exceptions for than saying "must" (ah sorry customers, bigco had a bunch of money, and the rules don't say MUST). It's a well known wording choice in software, see every RFC ever.
It signals to me that Valve wanted an out for their rules when they wrote them because it's an odd choice for such a well known word choice otherwise.

See travel of any distance seems difficult to make consistently interesting. Valheim's has the occasional enemy but is still boring. It's been a while since I played Sea of Thieves but besides the PvP aspect I feel like the land wasn't super far apart.
Initially I found mine uncomfortable on the back of my legs. Now I just find it uncomfortable if I sit in it in my pajamas - the mesh kinda digs in.
So was the one that slid out a chemical toilet or such? Or was its plumbing like a flexible dryer vent? I'm hung up on how the plumbing would work
I am not an expert but I've dabbled on this before some years ago. I'm taking a swing at this not knowing what Caddy is.
If you don't need it exposed publicly, you just need a local DNS server like bind or dnsmasq set up somewhere on the local network, or edit the hosts files on your individual machines to hard code your local network service IPs for those machines. You don't need a purchased domain name to advertise domains locally. It's probably also possible for each machine to advertise its DNS without a central server, but it's outside of my expertise.
Exposing port services with a domain name is a lot trickier but it's doable in various ways. A cursory search says SRV records or setting up a proxy on your local network. It's been a long time since I've attempted this. Optimally your host and client will just be configured to use the correct ports already, like port 80 for http and port 443 for https and whatever the default port is for your other services, so that you can use the same hostname per IP.
Since it's all on your local network I wouldn't bother with encryption/self signed certs, unless your risk profile includes randos on your network sniffing your services (spying on your network traffic while connected to your network).
I don't have guides handy but maybe some of those keywords will help. If you're not staunchly anti-ai, it's a common enough scenario for something like chatgpt to guide you through.

I think the original Red Faction comes close - bad guys are a big corrupt corporation. You are part of a worker revolt iirc. Not sure about the other Red Faction games.
I tried this with friends and, surprisingly, had a good bit of fun! Even if I don't play it again I got my $7 worth when it was on sale this past weekend

Since you said FFXIV and WoW are one of your top of all time except for needing to play with randoms (the part I personally hate are the forced solo sections) then maybe look at Star Wars: The Old Republic. I like FFXIV and I just started SWTOR because I heard the stories were good.
Also apparently it's fully voiced. And you can join you friends in their story mode sections (but if they are the same class you'll have to repeat it for them, and they have to be the same faction [empire/Republic]). And I think you get scaled down to the world level so you don't eat all their experience in the open world, but I'm not sure. I'm also not sure if there are required dungeons or not yet - I'm only level 13 but story quest level is 10. Free to play for the first two expansions.
