@psud ohhh gotcha yeah, that’s something i noticed too reading the comments

i was hoping that it would be a good hook to get people to read the article, but seems to have caused a knee jerk reaction instead. i wouldve posted the entire article here, but unfortunately on mastodon im limited to 500 chars :(

i might have to rethink how i present my hooks in the future. regardless, thanks again for reading and giving ur thoughts! :)

@psud @psud thanks for reading! :)

there are aspects of ai that definitely needs to be systematically addressed (eg from the blog: warfare). im unsure how & why it came across as “not a problem now”

@Franconian_Nomad hehe lol thanks

most people aren’t even going to read the post in its entirety and comment on a knee jerk reaction (already getting some which is always amusing). those comments aren’t worth addressing tbh

but overall i think this is a useful article as it tries to tow a pragmatic line. plus im fine with challenging my thinking, and if anyone has a useful comment worth considering, im open to it

How to Use AI for Linux Kernel Development

This is about using AI for Linux kernel development, though most tips can apply elsewhere.

I know, I know. AI is quite polarizing in today’s world, to say the least. I will be addressing ethics later. But for now, let’s focus on the tech.

AI is useful because it prototypes fast, multitasks well, and gives you something to work off of instead of making you start from zero. Do I think it replaces...

there are other humans in other countries that are looking for a better life

the problem is that countries with declining birth rates dont see them as humans

[–] Logical_Error@fosstodon.org 3 points 4 weeks ago

@thingsiplay exactly! that was my point to writing this article: that it should soon be relevant enough :)

[–] Logical_Error@fosstodon.org 3 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

np! i dont see this as confrontational at all! on the other hand im glad to be getting constructive criticism (which i cant really say for the other comments)

and all valid points u are making. most important thing is we will have to wait and see, but im very excited to see linux’s growth :)

@AmbitiousProcess the usa gov graph shows a daily stat. if u have any other websites that show linux stats lmk

there are also reasonings listed in the dropdown at the top of the article

the comments are a little funny to read

when a vendor doesn’t support their hw on windows, the vendor is blamed

when a vendor doesn’t support their hw on linux, linux is blamed

a way to install linux without a usb drive

https://github.com/rltvty2/ulli

very interesting! just double click an exe file and install linux

would be interesting if @bazzite or @linuxmint offered exe programs that does this type of install

a little funny to see someone say the same exact thing as me, but conclude the opposite thing

that 1% gain translates to a lot of people. app devs will hopefully target linux now as there are finally a sizable amt of people on the platform. its breaking the chicken and egg cycle

no need to worry about the software fragmentation. it gives OEMs a choice on how they would like to sell a system. we dont want to be like android now do we. i see it as a plus

[–] Logical_Error@fosstodon.org 3 points 7 months ago

yup it is very active. u can follow the account here: @postmarketOS

as for why the devices seem old: it takes a lot of work trying to get the old android kernel working with the mainline kernel. its much harder than lineageos as we dont reuse the old android kernel and a lot of work needs to be done on both the kernel and userspace

basically one person is doing an entire engineering departments work

if ud like the newest phone, u can get a fairphone 5
