I get the power saving mode part. Like a small brain fog where it's harder to focus on things. It doesn't happen every time but it's not uncommon. And it doesn't feel good.

It depends on how it affects you. What you described matches more what I get from coffee (I don't drink coffee). I drink fairly regularly I guess. It gives a social boost, to the point of a semi-social sober person, in exchange for some clumsiness. Hangovers are rare and I've never forgotten something because of alcohol, so it feels more like a short-term enhancement. Obviously it's bad long-term but, as with everything, if you don't hurt anyone, you do you.

Presumably the EU is also making an app for this. Isn't the Google wallet thing basically an alternative?

In my subscribed feed there are three types of posts that are heavily downvoted

  • Wrong community, spamming, or stupid takes by the same five people: it's usually visible from the title and I wouldn't click on them anyway but the downvotes draw your attention to the community/user so you know to avoid clicking on the post so they kinda help.
  • AI news: I guess people are just tired and mass downvoting them. I also wouldn't click on them cause they're not that interesting so the downvotes don't make a difference.
  • Posts with a normal looking title in an appropriate community. Downvotes will make me click on them more to see what went wrong as there's usually an interesting discussion in the comments.

I don't vote/comment much but this shouldn't be affected by other peoples' votes anyway.

I'm convinced most people learning English have at some point resolved to pronouncing wed-nes-day and be-a-u-ti-ful in their head just to remember the spelling.

Not mentioned yet, people working at real estate agencies (at least for renting). They take a lot of money from both sides and at best just unlock the houses so people can see them, at worst they are actively disruptive to the process.

Photos/videos from my phone get backed up on two laptops and eventually an external drive. Photos from cameras do the same with the more interesting photos going to my phone as well. These all tend to be on the same physical location so I really should find better way.

If smart glasses become mainstream you'll have many people wearing them in public. And you can choose privacy respecting glasses but most people will not. So maybe let's not make them mainstream.

Watching someone constantly take their hand off the keyboard to use the mouse when there's a trackpad right there is my hell.

And this is why graffiti is not bad. If companies get to alter public spaces with their ads to make money, then people should be able to alter public spaces for artistic reasons.

You'd still need to get to your destination somehow

Is 1000€ a common price for a bike in the Netherlands? It seems a bit much for a bike that will be stolen at an inconvenient time.

This tram looks pretty bulky. It turns out it also runs underground, which will really mess with you if you don't know it and are looking for its stop in a big station :)

Edit: I've no idea why this got uploaded as .avif but it seems I can't change it.
