I met a guy last week who was unusually passionate about water filtration and wanted to make a business globally. People are wonderfully weird.
Because you wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of being treated like a test rat should said powers be used unjustly. Who gets the authority to say who gets to be horribly tortured? Are they infallible in their verdicts?

While I don't much care for TSA or anything homeland security in the US, civil service jobs are a bit different in my eyes.
A lot of people as I understand it work for the state in an effort to keep their communities functioning, so their oaths mean more than just a paycheck but that loyalty still has it's limits when you can't eat and have bills to pay.
