Besides, Iran is all the way over there and Cuba is right here

What do you mean Mark Zuckerbot isn’t perfect?

The virtual zuck however would be in the board meeting and agree for the meat zuck to expel him

My hope was that Tisza would be 1 or 2 seats away from the super majority and there would be another opposition party (non orban, non nationalist) in parliament to actually be there to stamp things

You’re telling me the same guys that made up…- erm I mean, created the fifa peace prize would refuse to move the World Cup from a host that started a war? surprised pickachu

When I said somewhat smart the emphasis was on somewhat, and I meant, the least dumb option that he was likely to take (am not counting just exiting, cause he is who he is)

If they were even somewhat smart, they’d be blocking just Iranian shipping.

Still less dumb and less war crimes than bombing civilian infrastructure

Try to think like the great dumbass for a minute:

Iran has said they want to keep the toll system in place after the war

Therefore if you just leave now, everyone will be very mad at you at toll

Therefore only way out is escalating. An invasion is expensive, unpopular, and unlikely to work. They’re already bombing Iran, so not that.

What remains is a naval blockade. Because they’re dumbasses, they didn’t just decide to block Iranian shipping, but instead essentially block all remaining shipping.

It’s less dumb than other options, and less war crimes and killing civilians

Question is, if you’re Ronald McDonald and simply pull out, and Iran keeps asking for a toll, you just get a pure loss. A blockade is the only way, that maybe, you can improve your negotiating position for “cheap”. It will backfire for sure though

Obviously the smart play was not to invade at all

Apparently in the past day, they’ve removed all the logos from the Microgrants projects and clarified that the grants are unsolicited

Context: my father is a lawyer and therefore has a bajillion pdf files that were digitised, stored in a server. I’ve gotten an idea on how to do OCR in all of them.

But after that, how can I make them easily searchable? (Keep in mind that unfortunately, the directory structure is important information to classify the files, aka you may have a path like clientABC/caseAV1/d.pdf

Hey y'all! Recently my homeserver (an old laptop) has started crashing every night (after weeks of uptime just working), without anything useful in the logs. Any suggestion about what it might be? (Just started logging battery info to test tonight)

I've been scouring all over the internet for the new Chat Control proposal, yet I cannot seem to find it

After a lot of work, and a lot of trying, I couldn’t find FOSS software that properly syncs my family’s photos in the background (tried Immich, still not good enough despite the new beta timeline, kinda worked in 1.136, got kinda broken on 1.138, tried Nextcloud, but still haven’t gotten new photos to sync in the background. Ente is waaaay too complicated, with waaaay too many moving parts that can break). Given all of this, I gotta choose some prebuilt nas that can properly sync. I don’t like synology but apparently their background sync is ok. What about Qnap and Ugreen? Are they ok?
