3.28.0f Patch Notes

  • Added support for the upcoming Gauntlet Event.
  • The Currency Exchange now ignores currency inside the map device storage.
  • Fixed several monster using additive ailment effect and duration on their skills, instead of a multiplicative. As an example, this could have resulted in a player getting Shocked even if they had 100% reduced effect of Shock on them.
  • The HUD notification that shows when Faustus sells one of your items now has a different message when the sold item is in a different league.
  • While viewing the Atlas, right clicking a Chronicle of Atzoatl will now work the same as it does for Unique Maps. i.e. The Atlas pans to that location and opens the Map Device with the item already placed.
  • Fixed a bug where monsters could be invisible in Breach Hive Colonies.
  • Fixed a rare bug where Zombies created from the Raise Zombie of Falling gem could get up and follow you, instead of remaining dead.

The Mirage Challenge League

  • Some buff effects now transition with you through combat areas like temporary minions. These include Rage, Fortify, most charges, and Shrines (excluding Evolving Shrine).
  • On first moving after entering a Mirage, a powerful shockwave will trigger to stun enemies near the player. This is to mitigate situations where the player is immediately swarmed on entering a Mirage.
  • Corrected the error message that displays when trying to use the Divine Font on an Imbued Gem.
  • Fixed a bug with several wishes that added extra monster packs to the Mirage, where the added packs could be spawned outside the Mirage zone and therefore not appear.
  • Mirages will no longer spawn in a particular City Square room that made them unable to spread very far.
  • The Astral-touched modifier now has special font colouring

General Improvements

  • Unique Maps will no longer show the "Bonus Objective" line when viewing the advanced mod descriptions.
  • Fixed a UI bug where some Atlas nodes in the far corners of the Atlas were not hoverable when the corresponding Voidstone had been unlocked.
  • Added more informative error messages when applying Memory Threads to invalid nodes on your Atlas.
  • While viewing the Atlas, hovering or holding a Map item in your inventory will cause Atlas nodes to glow if that node hasn't had it's Bonus Completed and the map item can award Bonus Completion. e.g. Hovering a Magic Tier 7 map item will only cause Tier 5 and under map nodes to glow because Tier 6 & 7 map nodes require Rare maps for bonus completion.
  • The Map Device will no longer show the Maven/Eater/Exarch influence buttons for Unique maps that can't be Witnessed.
  • All uncompleted Unique maps on the Atlas will stop pulsing blue once you have completed any 10 Unique maps.
  • Kirac's Invitation UI will no longer show the Maven/Eater/Exarch influence buttons.
  • While using Chaos Orbs, you can now hold Alt to swap to using an Exalted Orb.
  • Added extra reminder text to the Transfusion Support to state that it prioritises the closest Minion that isn't already at maximum Souls.
  • Add some extra space around unstable and sky fortress breaches near the edge of a mirage
  • Breach monsters can no longer Fracture on death, or can have their Rarity upgraded when you have an Evolving Shrine. Breach monsters that were spawned via these effects were invisible and invulnerable to damage.
  • Fixed a bug where items with the +2 to level of Socketed Minion Gems Modifier on Gloves and Boots were not dropping identified in Delve.
  • The Ritualist's Breach Ring microtransaction now causes Unstable Breaches you find to be visually transformed into occult summoning circles.

Bug Fixes

  • Harvest Bosses will transition back into their regular forms 40 seconds after starting a vine phase.
  • The Misty Reflection skill from the Delirious Bloodline can no longer be repeated. Fixes a bug where if the skill repeated your character would be invisible and unusable for the rest of that area.
  • Fixed a bug where you couldn't get Remembrance charges for Legacy of the Rose staff after entering a boss room.
  • Fixed a bug where the last shard fired by Eye of Winter of Transience was in the wrong location
  • Fixed a bug where magic monsters around bismuth ore could have duplicate monster mods
  • Fixed a bug where the Influencing Scarab of Interference couldn't be used alongside the Horned Scarab of Awakening.

Later this week, we'll be deploying the 3.28.0e patch for Path of Exile: Mirage. The patch will allow certain buff effects to persist through combat areas, as well as introduce further Atlas UI/UX improvements and some bug fixes. Check out a preview below!

3.28.0d Patch Notes

  • The Damage Reduction from Soul Eater stacks is now capped at 90% less damage taken on Monsters and Player Minions.
  • Updated built-in Neversink's console filters to version 8.19.1
  • Fixed a PlayStation specific client crash
  • Fixed a bug where players could disconnect if traveling from the Azurite Mine directly to Kingsmarch
  • Fixed a bug where players could get disconnected when using a portal from a Hideout to travel to the Azurite Mine.
  • Fixed an instance crash.

This patch has been deployed without restarting the servers. You will need to update your client to receive the client changes in this patch.

Last night after deploying 3.28.0c, some of our servers accidentally had their configuration broken in a way that resulted in approximately twice the number of players being assigned to some servers than what they can normally handle. This was entirely an error on our part and doesn't have anything to do with previous server disruptions that we have had this launch.

Unfortunately, even though we have an alerting system in place to wake up our server admins in cases where load on our servers is too high, none of the conditions we had in place were triggered by this event. There are some unusual properties of this incident that we are still investigating that caused performance to be bad even though CPU load was not higher than our alerting threshold.

As soon as our server admins were made aware of the problem, the configuration issue was able to be immediately resolved, but this resulted in around 12 hours of degraded performance for some users in some regions.

We have added some new performance metrics to our alerting system which will make sure that this particular failure doesn't happen again.

We apologise for the impact that this had. This incident was our fault, and we will make sure that it doesn't happen again.

As a side note, if you've failed a few attempts at these bosses, don't be disheartened by these stats! They're strongly influenced by players that kill the bosses over and over again, contributing a significant number of attempts while having a very high win rate. Players with fewer attempts tend to not have such a high win rate. For example, the median player (in terms of win rate) with 5-9 attempts at the Searing Exarch has an 83.3% win rate, whereas players that have over 100 attempts have a win rate of 99.5%.

The Mirage Challenge League

  • Fixed a bug where Mirages were unable to extend into the Moon Temple boss arena.
  • The Wish for Rust and Wish for Terror now cause the enemies they spawn to spawn when breaking the Astral Chain instead of spawning alongside Final Map Bosses in the Mirage Area. This also now allows these Wishes to appear at any Mirage of sufficient area level, instead of just Mirages within range of a Map Boss. Fixed a bug where Wish for Rust was twice as common in Ruthless.
  • The granted skill to return to the portal in a Mirage is no longer considered a Spell.
  • Empowered Mirage Map items now have special art.
  • Fixed a bug where the mortar projectile spell used by the Astral Instrument monster did no damage.
  • Added the Wish for Flame which grants a Coin of Power on breaking the Astral Chain. Added the Wish for Tides which grants a Coin of Knowledge on breaking the Astral Chain. Added the Wish for Sands which grants a Coin of Skill on breaking the Astral Chain.

General Improvements and Changes

  • Shortened the display text for subsequent notifications of Faustus having sold your items. Toast notifications are no longer displayed over the top of the inventory panel.
  • Shrines which attach ongoing secondary effects to the player, such as Shocking Shrine, now have a limit on how many of these effects they can continue to attach through getting many copies of these shrines active at once.
  • All Lost Shipment chests except for the central one are now destructible with damage.' The central chest in Lost Shipments also has a more distinctive label now.
  • At the Map Device, hovering a Map or Fragment in your inventory will now highlight the Map Device slots the item can go in.
  • At the Map Device, while in the controller mode players can now select Unique Maps or Boss Fragments from their inventory to navigate to those locations on the Atlas and insert the item into the Map Device.
  • The Map Stash now has 6 subtabs available for each of the Conqueror and Elder Guardian map types.
  • Added a new Harvest Crafting Option to change a stack of League-Specific Astrolabes into a different type of League-Specific Astrolabe.
  • Ailith can now be interacted with from farther away in the Monastery of the Keepers.
  • Hovering a Volatile Vaal Orb over an item now shows the modified range of individual stat values.
  • Vagan's crafting bench to complete Incubators now has a more descriptive label for what interacting with the crafting bench will do.
  • Holy Flame Totems now have an enemy targeting range that matches Spell Totems (for real this time).
  • Added the "Currency" stash tab affinity to the following items: Refracting Fog, Volatile Vaal Orb, Crystallised Rancour, Coin of Restoration, Coin of Desecration, Coin of Knowledge, Coin of Power, Coin of Skill. Added the "Essence" stash tab affinity to the Essence of Desolation.
  • Unstable Breaches that have extra time before collapse (due to the Clawed Open Atlas Notable) will now display a second progress bar when using that extra time.
  • Visually adjusted the fog of war on the Atlas such that it is easier to tell what is explored and what is not yet explored.
  • Re-enabled Magus Tome Hip Attachment and Triumphant Liege Helmet Attachment microtransactions.
  • Re-enabled the Celestial Dominating Blow microtransaction.
  • The Originator Voidstone has additional reminder text noting that Astrolabes cannot drop from Maps affected by Shaped Regions. Note this is purely a description change.
  • Updated the description of the damage penalty on The Sands of Time unique sceptre's Suspend in Time skill to correctly state that the copied skill is used, not triggered.
  • Call the Pyre from the Pyre Support now states it requires a Melee Weapon or Unarmed. This is purely a description change.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a few cases of unique item modifiers showing that they scaled with mod effect when they did not actually have a gameplay impact, notably the "Socketed gem" modifiers on Black Zenith and Triumvirate Authority. Existing copies of these items with modified values will continue to show the incorrect values, though since these values are only used for display purposes this does not change their behaviour compared to normal copies of the unique.
  • Fixed a bug where the Maraketh Faction in the Act 4 Dried Lake Legion Encounter wasn't generating chest rewards.
  • Fixed a bug where the Memory Altar modifier for Breach added additional Clasped Hands, which no longer exist. This modifier instead adds 2 additional unstable Breaches to the Area.
  • Fixed the Twist of Fate Atlas Keystone preventing you from running Corrupted Maps. The Keystone clarifies it does not affect Corrupted Blighted Maps or Corrupted Maps beyond Voidstone sockets on your Atlas.
  • Fixed a bug that could prevent Divine Vessels from being moved into the Map Device via Ctrl + Left Click.
  • Fixed a bug where the Bloodthirsty Body Armour microtransaction's skirt had disappeared.
  • Fixed a bug where hiveblood would stop updating on the client after more than a certain total amount had been spent in the league
  • Fixed a bug where some Seagulls in Kingsmarch were no longer fleeing from the player. Bird bravery will not be tolerated.
  • Fixed a bug where the "Shockwave has +1 to cooldown" modifier granted by Essence of Desolation did not apply to Void Shockwave or Gore Shockwave.
  • Fixed a bug where Inscribed Ultimatums to double the number of Fracturing Orbs were not functional, or searchable on the Trade website.
  • Fixed a bug where various increased Fire, Cold and Lightning Damage Prefix Modifiers on Weapons and Shields could not be rerolled using the new change a Modifier Harvest crafts.
  • Fixed a bug where Glyphic Fossils could select mods from Essence of Desolation.
  • Fixed an issue where red beasts spawned in delve could be very far away from the area where they were supposed to be.
  • Fixed a bug where the Labyrinth Hazards from the Originator Map modifier could be revived in Ritual Encounters.
  • Fixed Reflect mitigation modifiers on the Watcher's Eye Unique Jewel appearing at the top of the list of Modifiers, rather then below the Life/Mana/Energy Shield Modifiers.
  • Fixed Greater Chain Support not working correctly with Spectral Shield Throw.
  • Fixed a bug which prevented the "This item's price differs from the one you initially travelled to this shop for." warning no longer appearing after the vendor window UI has been closed.
  • Fixed a bug where the Frostblink of Wintry Blast wasn't supportable by Intensify Support.
  • Fixed a bug where if you died from It that was Tul's Shield Throw skill, or left the area during the skill, It that was Tul could fail to reappear, causing the fight to become incompletable.
  • Fixed a PS5 specific client crash.
  • Fixed 6 client crashes

Ruthless fixes

  • Fixed a bug where the Maven's Chisel of Divination could drop in Ruthless.
  • Updated descriptions on some Mirage Wishes in Ruthless Mode.
  • Fixed a bug where Faridun Blight Chests in Mirages were not spawning in Ruthless campaign Blight Encounters.
  • Fixed Sacrifice Fragments and Mortal Fragments displaying the wrong amount of increased Quantity of Items found and stating they contain a Vaal Side Area in Ruthless.' Fixed Influencing Scarab of Hordes displaying the wrong increased Pack Size value in Ruthless. (these changes are purely description changes)

  • Fixed a bug where Minions' Base Attack Critical Strike Chance is equal to the Critical Strike Chance of your Main Hand Weapon was not always functional.
  • Fixed a petrification debuff being stuck at 0.0 seconds if you are hit rapidly.
  • Fixed a bug where Fulgurite Tincture's chance to shock was not applying and Borealwood Tincture's chance to freeze was also applying to chance to shock.
  • Animate Guardians Weapon now also follows you through area transitions.
  • Tornadoes from Bismuth Ores no longer damage the tree in Petrified Amber Ore encounters.

An Update on Server Instability

Since the launch of 3.28, many players have been getting repeated disconnections from our game servers. This is the result of some very persistent and targeted DDoS attacks that have been directed at our game backend.

While we don't want to give any specific details which might serve to help the attackers, we want to assure you that this is our server team's highest priority, and we are in constant contact with our server providers who have been deploying mitigations for these attacks. While we have seen some improvements due to these countermeasures, this will not be considered resolved until these disconnections stop.

We want to apologise for the disruption and will attempt to resolve this as quickly as possible.

  • Fixed a bug that allowed the quest chemist's strongbox in the grain gate to produce flasks above 20% quality.
  • Fixed a bug where the pustules spawned by Faridun Warlock Spectres were considered to be on the enemy team, preventing completion of Simulacrum or Coward's Trial Waves while they were alive.

3.28.0b Patch Notes

The Mirage Challenge League

  • Players can now assign the same hotkey to both 'Return to the Mirage Portal' and 'Use Portal Scroll'. In Mirage areas is will teleport you back to the start, and outside of Mirage areas it will use a Portal Scroll.
  • Fixed Honoured Incubators not correctly describing that they are capable of resulting in Gold as well as Djinn Coins. This is purely a description change, and not a functional change.
  • Djinn Caches in Mirages now have a larger clickable area, and have a more prominent label and effects to be more noticeable.
  • Improved the noticeability of the highlight for selectable uncompleted Maps while viewing the Atlas at a Map Device.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a bug where regular Tier 14+ Map Bosses could drop the Cortex Unique Map.
  • Fixed a bug where the Remembered had no chance to drop Crescent Splinters or Maven Chisels when spawned from the Scarab of Awakening.
  • Fixed a UI bug where the 6th Map Device slot was showing incorrect unlock conditions.
  • Fixed a bug where The Memory Altar modifier that revives rare monsters by expending petals could do so multiple times.
  • Fixed a bug where the Black Star's arena could visually stop rotating if the player left the arena and came back.
  • Fixed a bug wherer Elder Guardian Maps and map items with specific map were no longer showing Maven witness status on their popups.
  • The description text of the Echo of Trauma, Reverence and Loneliness now specify which specific Incarnation Boss you will face in the area.
  • The Map Rucksack is now only visible in areas with Map Devices.
  • Fixed a bug where the Atlas Map Device wouldn't refocus on the last run map when using a controller.
  • For players who have not yet completed a map in the current league, the Atlas is now much more zoomed in by default.
  • Fixed an issue where Foulborn Currencies were not showing on the Currency Exchange.
  • Timeless Emblems will now be auto placed into the Map Device Receptacle when viewing the Domain of Timeless Conflict on the Atlas.
  • Fixed a bug where Fossils could still rarely generate from Heist rewards.
  • Fixed a bug where Stitched Brute Spectres would spawn Gut Worm monsters if killed in a Hideout.
  • Fixed a bug where Increases and reductions to X damage also apply to Effect of Auras from X skills didnt work for some modifiers on Watcher's Eye Unique Jewels.
  • Added a display for your Hiveblood to the Wombgift Locker.
  • Fixed 2 client crashes.
  • Fixed 2 instance crashes.

Website and Trade

  • Fixed challenge icons not showing on the website.
  • Trade Site: Filtering by a maximum fee no longer excludes results without a fee.
  • Trade Site: Added missing Bulk Exchange items.
  • Trade Site: Fixed Valdo's Maps not being searchable by their Map Completion Reward.

3.28.0 Hotfix 15

  • Fixed a bug with hovering ground item labels where they wouldn't highlight immediately under certain conditions.
  • Fixed a bug which allowed scarabs to be ctrl+clicked into hidden slots in Eagon's Map Device. Items lost in this way can be retrieved by opening Eagon's Map Device after this patch, or by running the /recoveroldcraftingbenchitem chat command.

3.28.0 Hotfix 14

  • Fixed some cases where UI elements could not be clicked, including the Subterranean Chart, Tujen's Haggle option, and level-up all Gems option.
  • Fixed a bug where the values on some Unique Item modifers could overflow when you used a Volatile Vaal Orb on them, such as the Burden of Shadows Unique Staff.
  • Fixed an issue where Vaal Blade Flurry would not channel and ended as soon as you used the skill.
  • Blighted Maps that drop below Tier 16 are no longer converted to Gold from Voidstones.

3.28.0 Hotfix 13

  • Fixed a bug where the Map Stash Affinity was taking priority over the Blight and Delirium Affinities.
  • Fixed Memory Thread currency not dropping from Memory Tears in Maps after completing the quest versions of all 3 Incarnation bosses.
  • Fixed Saresh, of the Weeping Black using his tracking beam ability against targets in melee range which it can't reach.
  • Fixed several cases where Rogue Exile replacements in Mirages were doing far more damage than intended.
  • Fixed an issue where several new scarabs were not present on the currency exchange outside of standard leagues.
  • Fixed a rare case where a hive breach could fail to spawn waves.
  • Fixed a bug where Raised spiders from Arakaali's fang don't deal damage when they persist through area transitions.
  • Fixed a bug where Raised spiders from Arakaali's fang would never update their stats if your minion stats changed.
  • Fixed interaction with Settlers Hourglass while using a controller.
  • Soul of Lunaris' 6% reduced Elemental Damage taken if you have been Hit Recently has been changed from Iceberg Map to instead be Beach Map. Captured Soul of Otesha, the Giantslayer has been renamed to Captured Soul of Glace.
  • Fixed 2 client crashes.
  • Fixed 2 instance crashes.

Over the weekend, we've launched Path of Exile: Mirage. Thanks to everyone who logged in to try out the new league!

So far we've deployed 11 hotfixes to address a variety of crashes and bugs. The team continues to work on hotfixes as they investigate your reports and feedback, and we should have the most common issues addressed very soon.

We've got plenty of things on our radar currently, but here are some examples of what we're working on:

  • Many instances of the Currency Exchange showing removed items and not showing new ones have been fixed internally and will be hotfixed in the client shortly.
  • Improving the visibility of maps not yet completed on the Atlas.
  • Improving the visibility of Caches in Mirages.
  • Fixing cases where certain UI elements (in Delve, for example) are not selectable.
  • Fixing an issue where users in permanent leagues are unable to progress their Atlas state.
  • We're also making many individual improvements to the experience of the new Atlas system.
  • Fixing an issue where Memory Thread currency was not dropping from Memory Tears after completing all the Memory Lines quests.
  • Soul of Lunaris' 6% reduced Elemental Damage taken if you have been Hit Recently has been changed from Iceberg Map to instead be Beach Map.
  • Ability to have buffs persist through area transitions from one combat area to another, with Shrine Buffs likely to be the first to get this treatment.

We are aware of the server issues that affect some of our players, and we are working hard to resolve them as soon as we can.
