From the newsletter

We’re reaching out to administrators of Zulip organizations to announce a major transition for the Zulip open-source project and the Kandra Labs company behind it: I’m stepping back from full-time Zulip leadership, and donating the company to a newly created nonprofit Zulip Foundation. The new structure provides stability, a renewed commitment to our values, and new opportunities for charitable fundraising.

The new Zulip Foundation will be the formal steward of the Zulip project, with a mission of developing the best possible team chat experience, with particular focus on public-interest organizations and communities.

Please check out the announcement blog post to learn about the Zulip Foundation’s leadership, and more. If you have any questions or concerns, please join us for a live chat Q&A in the Zulip development community on Tuesday, May 19 at 4 PM UTC (9 AM US Pacific / 12 PM US Eastern / 6 PM CET), or reach out to support@zulip.com.

— Tim Abbott, on behalf of the Zulip team

Is this still going to happen? What can we do?

Finally I can stay forever on lemmy even not opening the browser! 😂

Thinking of using it as a mod tool to see new posts in communities I moderate.

Sharing it early, maybe get some ideas on how to make it better.

Use of AI tools for research and reverse engineering purposes is permitted. However, contributors are expected to fully own and understand all code they submit. Any communication with the team — including code, code comments, and GitHub comments — must come from the human contributor, not an AI agent acting autonomously.

We have unfortunately seen a rise in untested and unverified AI-generated slop being submitted to this project. This wastes maintainer time and, in worse cases, such changes get merged and break functionality for all users. Repeated violations will result in a ban from the repository. Please be respectful of everyone’s time.

Pull requests opened by AI agents or automated tools must include a disclosure in the PR description stating the scope of AI involvement — which parts were AI-generated and what human testing or review was performed prior to submission. PRs that omit this disclosure may be closed without review.

If you are unsure about your work, open a discussion issue to talk it through with the team, or reach out to a maintainer on Discord.

Hey everyone,

We just released new features this week and wanted to share what's in them.

Quick Recap: Dograh is an open-source voice AI agent platform - a visual workflow builder like n8n, but for voice. You design conversational flows by dragging and dropping, connect your own LLM, TTS, and STT providers, and deploy agents that handle real phone calls. Inbound, outbound, call transfer to humans, voicemail detection, knowledge base, variable extraction, web widget, tool calls to CRM, n8n, WhatsApp, SMS, email, Calendly - anything with an API.

What's new in 1.27.0:

MCP capabilities to create new workflows using natural language instructions

Multi tenancy for telephony support - wherein you can create multiple telephony configurations for various providers (Plivo, Telnyx, Vobiz, Vonage, Cloudonix, Twilio)

Made it easier to set up telephony with deeper API integration with telephony providers

Github: https://github.com/dograh-hq/dograh

Let me know if you have any feedback after trying it A star would mean a lot

Jean-Baptiste Kempf is lead developer of VLC and president of VideoLAN. Kieran Kunhya is a longtime FFmpeg contributor, codec engineer, and the person behind the now-infamous FFmpeg account on X.

Not a fan of Lex Fridman but I think some people might find the interview interesting.

I just got the new rclone version v1.74.0. It got a new gui command (rclone gui) that runs a web based gui. Its awesome. You can interact with all kinds of storage in it and edit all of your local configs. Since it is web based, you can also use the gui on a remote server and simply tunnel the port via ssh to your local machine.

I have a Dreame PCB breakout adaptor for Valetudo. It's a spare, not soldered.

I don't have a button but I should have the other parts needed.

Free to whomever needs it within Canada. I'll ship it, send me a private message. :)

Also to those more tech savyy than me wants to cross post this post for more visibility, that would be great. (Yes I see the irony.)

Some additional context regarding Fedora Project Leader Jef Spaleta position and thinking:

I’m going to put my FPL hat on real tight for this next comment.
I’m not here to side-step problems. I’m here to lean into them and get to a better future. I think some people are generally concerned about the ethical use of AI and are loudly pushing back on a future they feel is coming for them that is outside of their control. Saying no to everything AI related in the places where they have agency to do so feels like a way to take a stand and take back control. I think that’s exactly the wrong thing to do.

I am genuinely concerned about the ethical use of AI. I am genuinely concerned about the hype bubble. But i don’t think this technology goes away, even after the bubble burst. The best possible [future] I can see involves the Fedora community being part of the conversation around ethical use of this technology and that doesn’t mean we sit on the sidelines and ask downstreams to do the work we refuse to do to provide a developer oriented desktop experience because we can’t bring [ourselves] to do it. Punting on developers is how this project becomes irrelevant. And its definitely not in line with the supporting text of the First foundation, nor inline with what I understand Fedora’s core mission to be.

[…]

As the Fedora Project Leader, I am absolutely not concerned about the reputational damage to this project that comes with setting up an entirely new output attractive to developers who want to make use of Ai tools. If this were proposing re-orienting Workstation, which is a mature project output, I would be pushing back as well as a skeptic on the value of the AI stuff. That approach would be materially changing the character of an existing output that users rely on..and that’s probably not appropriate and would result in watching users drop out. This approach deliberately sets up a separate output to avoid that. This will either be attractive and grow or it will not.. based entirely on individual interest. This approach is not disruptive to existing outputs nor asking for users or volunteer contributors relying on those outputs to be coopted into putting work into an output that do not want to contribute to.
