Nvidia Corporation is an American multinational corporation and technology company. It is a software and fabless company which designs and supplies graphics processing units (GPUs), application programming interfaces (APIs) for data science and high-performance computing, as well as system on a chip units (SoCs) for the mobile computing and automotive market. Nvidia is also a dominant supplier of artificial intelligence (AI) hardware and software.

Nvidia's professional line of GPUs are used for edge-to-cloud computing and in supercomputers and workstations for applications in such fields as architecture, engineering and construction, media and entertainment, automotive, scientific research, and manufacturing design. Its GeForce line of GPUs are aimed at the consumer market and are used in applications such as video editing, 3D rendering and PC gaming. The company expanded its presence in the gaming industry with the introduction of the Shield Portable (a handheld game console), Shield Tablet (a gaming tablet) and Shield TV (a digital media player), as well as its cloud gaming service GeForce Now.

The Nvidia CEO seems to feel that claims of AI's job-killing potential have been greatly exaggerated.

The NVIDIA App update today introduced some interesting features, such as DLSS 4.5 dynamic multi-frame generation and a 6x mode. Additionally, the app now includes a new beta version of NVIDIA Auto Shader Compilation (ASC). This feature takes DirectX 12 shaders from games and quietly compiles them while the system is idle or not running any graphically intensive tasks. Typically, when you start a game, you have to wait for all assets to load and shaders to compile before you can begin playing. However, with ASC, NVIDIA aims to shorten this process by pre-compiling shaders to reduce loading times and, interestingly, decrease in-game stuttering, which can occur when shaders don't load properly. NVIDIA states that this feature is opt-in within the NVIDIA App and can be enabled by navigating to the Graphics Tab > Global Settings > Shader Cache. Once in the menu, users can access a range of settings, including the option to turn on Auto Shader Compilation.

NVIDIA is reportedly planning a second RTX 5050 variant with 9 GB of memory instead of the standard 8 GB, according to leaker MEGAsizeGPU who has a decent track record on NVIDIA leaks. Unlike the existing RTX 5050, which uses 8 GB of 20 Gbps GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit bus for 320 GB/s of bandwidth, the new model is said to adopt 3 GB GDDR7 modules. The updated configuration would total 9 GB across a 96-bit memory bus. While the narrower bus reduces interface width, the move to 28 Gbps GDDR7 would raise total memory bandwidth to 336 GB/s, a roughly 5% increase, alongside a 12.5% boost in VRAM capacity. Core specifications are expected to remain unchanged. The card would continue to use the GB207 GPU, based on the Blackwell architecture, with 2560 CUDA cores and a 130 W TDP. No changes to clock speeds or core counts have been mentioned.

NVIDIA has released GeForce Security Update Driver 582.28 WHQL for Maxwell, Pascal and Volta-based GeForce GPUs, covering hardware that no longer receives regular Game Ready driver updates. This release is strictly focused on security and does not add new features or performance improvements. The 582.28 driver patches several high-severity vulnerabilities in NVIDIA display driver stack, affecting both Windows and Linux systems, as well as NVIDIA vGPU software. Depending on the scenario, these flaws could potentially be exploited to achieve code execution, privilege escalation, data tampering, denial of service, or information disclosure. NVIDIA also addressed a medium-severity issue in the HD Audio driver that could lead to a denial-of-service condition.

NVIDIA has reportedly stopped production of its mid-range GeForce RTX 5070 Ti graphics card, according to ASUS, one of the largest PC manufacturers. ASUS shared exclusive information with Hardware Unboxed, revealing that NVIDIA has created a supply shortage for the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, effectively ending its production. As one of NVIDIA's largest AIB partners, ASUS has learned that the model is essentially in end-of-life status. The company noted the supply shortage and offered no further comments on availability or potential improvements in supply. Since retailers and manufacturers can't source enough stock of the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GPUs, the shortage has led to significant price increases for these models and suggests that the future availability of this GPU SKU might be nonexistent.
