The order comes during the 40th anniversary year since the P.180’s first flight. The Avanti has remained unusual in the business aviation market because it combines turboprop engines with a pusher-propeller layout, a forward wing and a main wing mounted toward the rear of the fuselage. That configuration gives the aircraft jet-like cruise performance while retaining turboprop operating efficiency.

Just basically a press release but what a wonderfully striking and unique aircraft!

Kind of a bit too much of an add for the jet, but the explanation of the importance of the composite wing explains the concept well I think so that part is worth reading as this kind of technology seems to be a decisive aspect of future aircraft design.

For one, electric aircraft must prioritize weight even more so than traditional engine equipped aircraft must, for another complex composite sleek aerodynamic shapes seem to becoming important in a dizzying array of contexts. See the MV-75's wing as one example.

The Shark.Aero as another fixed wing example.

Literally just bought a ticket and canceled when I saw this. Every non-spirit flight is like 2x the price :(

I know this is on the border between military and civil but this is not a weapons training facility as far as I can tell, most of the skills practiced here core to civil emergency and rescue contexts.

The video shows off the facility quite well.
