Automation and Factory Builder Games

A community surrounding automation (e.g. The Farmer Was Replaced) and factory games (e.g. Factorio, Satisfactory).

Rules

  1. Please stay on-topic: post about automation and factory builder games. There is some wiggle room; there always is when it comes to game genres, but some things clearly do not fit (Pong, a post asking what car you should buy in real life) and will be removed.
  2. Don’t be a jerk. This covers bigotry and discrimination, which includes but is not limited to homophobia, racism, sexism, etc.
  3. Please don’t directly link to pirated content.
  4. When advertising something you have worked on (think your own automation game review website, or an automation game you have worked on), please use common sense for what is spammy. If there’s about four new posts here weekly, don’t post a progress update weekly—we don’t want self-promotion overwhelming the community. But finding new automation game creators is cool, so do post them here every once in awhile! I reserve the right to change this rule to be more specific about what exactly counts as spammy and what does not, but I feel I’ll know it when I see it and trust most posters to operate in good faith.
  5. Please indicate spoilers. The following format works on both Lemmy and Kbin, but if you are using an app it may not. See this comment for which apps handle spoilers. Note that spoilers in post bodies will just show the text in the preview if you link the post in, say, Discord, instead of spoiling it.
Spoilers for SomeAutomationGameSomething that happened at the end of the game! Something else that happened at the end of the game!

Snacktorio is a little less sandbox and a little more sautee

I feel like this one is borderline, but maybe a decent baby's first automation game? Or if you just really like conveyor belts.

In an effort to be a financially responsible elevator I'm cutting back on engaging with video game Lemmy—the less cool games I get exposed to the less I am tempted to be a financially irresponsible elevator and buy something new I don't have the time to play. Actively looking for automation games to post, or even just crossposting others' posts, is part of this exposure that I am trying to limit. I've also gotten much busier and have less time for social media. Happy to hand control to someone else.

Aethus is "Satisfactory through the eyes of Diablo", in the eyes of this critic, who has now been turned into plant food.

Hey everyone! This is a new community focused on NonPolitical Comics (NPCs), which essentially means no gloom and doom of the day stuff.

If you like the idea, we need help! Take a couple of minutes to find a comic that you like and post it here for the rest of us!

The title of the community is "Automation and Factory Builder Games" and the address is !automationgames@lemmy.zip. I was wondering if programming automation games would fit here too; it's not the same thing as the factory automation ones, but I realize with the name and how the audiences might overlap it might be smart to accept them. Besides, small Fediverse: I do not think splitting them out makes sense quite yet, though it might if the Fediverse and this community ever grows. However, I also know people might have subscribed and only really seen Satisfactory-type games here and only expect that, and I am happy to respect that too. So I'd like to defer to the community on this. What do you think?

There's a newer post as well that follows up on that first one from June. I'm not super technically versed in things like CPU scheduling but I really like that they shared these posts.

I haven't played DSP in about a year but these guys have definitely caught lighting in a bottle with this concept. If you've played this game, you know how crazy that feeling of finally being able to lift off and just... have the full expanse of outer space open in front of you is.
